Before 2008, China relied entirely on imports from Germany’s SCHOTT for the core component of high-power commercial concave induction cookers—the glass-ceramic concave panel. With each panel costing over a thousand yuan, overall appliance prices remained prohibitively high, making such cookers rare in the market.
In 2008, Hontech Glass became the first domestic company to master the forming technology for glass-ceramic concave panels and established China’s first domestic production line. Over the past decade, the company has continuously optimized its processes. Its products now feature uniform color, smooth surfaces, and possess properties such as resistance to thermal shock at 700°C, impact resistance, and corrosion resistance. These panels have completely replaced imports and driven the gradual popularization of concave induction cookers.
With growing safety concerns over gas usage and the accelerating trend towards electrification in commercial kitchens, demand for glass-ceramic concave panels is steadily increasing. Hontech Glass stated it will continue to expand production capacity to provide the catering industry with higher-performance, more cost-effective, safer, and more reliable core components
